Corredor de hospital / Hospital hall

Empty concrete hall _Tim in Sydney

---

The hospital corridors are all the same, I understand it more and more.
In all of them, the silence that dwells more in the waiting room, listening to the sound of a whispered voice we know we will find; the sound that overlaps the one who tightens the throat, the one we know we can not let escape, can not let go to the eyes .
In all of them, the smell of ethanol, hidden with the sound, leaving a bitter taste.
In all of them, the same doors, even though behind them they are different eyes.
With different gradations of hope. With different gradations of pain.
Knowing that in some the biggest pain sleeping there is loneliness.
To continue, until the end of the corridor, where drops of hope run through a thin tube, to get mixed with the enemy we can not see or touch. We can only see the liquid dripping, how could we one day have imagined that hope would be liquid? Or that it would be as thin as the end of a needle?
How would we know that hope could be as painful as the invisible that wishes to move forward?

For all of those who need hope, and have more strength than the one we dare to imagine…

Chão de lume / Fire Floor

Temperatura Máxima_Ground Zero

Today I woke up feeling cold. That sort of cold that inhabits the bones in the morning when the day does not know how it’s going to be.
I felt that ice that saves my hands, but involves the soul, unannounced.

The fire floor is not worn, it was made again with resistant material.
The crackling wood beneath the old smokehouse. Not old, just old memories - I remember when I couldn’t reach the top even on tiptoe, now it barely makes me squat.
The wood burns, warms up my hands, while I expect for the charcoal, they still make the best barbecue.
Here it never lacked firewood or charcoal, or what to put on the grill.

And that's when the cold returns. I remember that there are fire floors where there is no longer aromas like this one, there are still some firewood to heat, but now lack the warmth to the stomach.
And colder still I get when I know that there are fire floors, where there is no heat to the soul, but the echo of the voices inhabits, like old ghosts ...

As estradas do meu país

Findo o rescaldo, o betão ficou miraculosamente intocado.

Verdes. Altas. Inspiradoras.
A vida renova-se.

….

All began with a pronounced smell of smoke and a sense that the temperature had increased suddenly.
When they went outside, the people noticed the fire that tore the centennial pine forest, still in the distance.
Apparently, someone had already called the fire department; they heard the sirens far away.
Initially it seemed far from the village, but now it was rapidly approaching. Too fast. The intense heat and smoke only increased the panic that began to spread almost as fast as the flames.
The water fell on the fire, but it seemed it wasn’t even calming it down, even nature has a will, and the wind got up as well.
Fire fighters began to ask everyone to leave, it was becoming necessary to evacuate the village. In one house, there were the voices, the voice of someone who refused to leave and a voice essaying calm, this one the voice of someone who tried to explain it had to be so.
From a higher point, evacuated villagers, voyeurs, all watched the fight against fire, the red of fire engines blurring against the yellow flames of hell, the noise of helicopters which  merged with the environment surrounding. The threat to survival, to what has been built by them, the memories, the fear that maybe nothing else will remain.
In the middle of the voyeurs, someone is holding something in his hand, something well protected inside his pocket. He looked fascinated about the firepower, perhaps more fascinated that the first men who discovered it. But without their original fear.
For some people, power is everything. It is always beautiful. No matter which scars it leaves.
Around him, everyone is asking: "Why?"
After the fire was put off, the concrete was miraculously untouched. All were able to return home the next morning. All, along with fear.
The green was gone, replaced by pieces of smouldering roots, black, some still glowing slightly. Perhaps this was the scene that Dante imagined.
The question is repeated in everyone's mind: "Why?"
Nearby, a voyeur continues to hold a small object in his hand, protected inside his pocket, under the guise of normalcy.
“Why?”

»» »Unfortunately, this text is based on true stories and, sadly, some had more dramatic outcomes.
Heroes are those who, in situations of despair, make the impossible became possible.
Every summer, there are heroes. There are also villains.
For a closing with hope: where before they were steaming and black roots, now I see new trees. Green. High. Inspiring.
Life renews itself.
